‘We’re not making stars out of a few, we’re making creative giants out of everyone’
Rag and Bone Arts was born from a passion to recreate the life changing experiences that our founder had growing up in a thriving arts community. Inspired by the Youth Theatre in Salisbury, Rag and Bone Arts is on a mission to bring that same level of creativity and opportunity to their home town.
For those who want to nurture their creativity in a supportive, flexible environment, we offer accessible arts education that’s focussed on being part of the process. Unlike many commercial institutions, we provide affordable, non-competitive workshops where people of all skill levels can explore their artistic passions, develop confidence and connect with like-minded people.
Come and join us and see how we can help you discover what may have always been there.
Set up in 2011, we became a social enterprise in 2013 and expanded to deliver art and dance to primary ages and teenagers in 2015. We have created many original theatre shows using the ideas of our casts and performed in many different venues from the Museum at Night at Chippenham Library, Trowbridge Diversity Festival, the Chippenham Folk Festival, Chippenham Fringe Festival - we take every opportunity to get involved in community events and get out to where people might discover our unique style. Many of our performances are outside - we're big fans of street theatre and public art, taking work outside of traditional venues to impact people in different ways.
We began our adult provision around 2015, first with acting improvisation, followed by life drawing and our very popular 6 week beginners and improvers art courses.
Post Covid, we re-grouped and now work with teens and adults with drama and art workshops during term time and provide holiday workshops through our Tell Your Story National Lottery funded project. We are now focusing on 12-18's and our over 18's provision and are dedicated to supporting our town to flourish creatively.
Our long-term vision is to create a vibrant arts centre in the heart of our town - alive with music, theatre, dance, and more. A place where people can come together, express themselves, and feel understood, no matter their background or experience.
